Barack Obama is the gift that keeps on giving. He may be out of office, but the damage he was able to do during the eight years he had in the White House is still being manifested years later. Case in point: The five GITMO terrorists Obama traded for Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl.

According to a spokesperson for the Taliban, the five terrorists who were freed from the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay in exchange for captured American Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl have joined the insurgent group’s political office in Qatar. They have done exactly what everyone warned they would do. They are back to operating with one of the world’s most brutal terror organizations.

Five members of the Afghan Taliban who were freed from the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay in exchange for captured American Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl have joined the insurgent group’s political office in Qatar, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid said Tuesday.

They will now be among Taliban representatives negotiating for peace in Afghanistan, a sign some negotiators in Kabul say indicates the Taliban’s desire for a peace pact.

Others fear the five, all of whom were close to the insurgent group’s founder and hard-line leader Mullah Mohammed Omar, bring with them the same ultra-conservative interpretation of Islam that characterized the group’s five-year rule that ended in 2001 with the U.S.-led invasion. “The Taliban are bringing back their old generation, which means the Taliban have not changed their thinking or their leadership,” warned Haroun Mira, a political analyst in the Afghan capital. “What we are more worried about is if tomorrow the Taliban say ‘we are ready to negotiate,’ who will represent Kabul? That is the big challenge because the government is so divided, not just ideologically but on ethnic lines.”

It seemed crazy to exchange one known deserter — who good men died trying to save — for five radicalized terrorists. For starters, the United States has a long-standing policy of not negotiating with terrorists. However, I suppose when your president is a terrorist, as well, the waters get a little muddy.

Everyone warned Obama that if the five GITMO detainees were freed, they’d end up fighting for the enemy in short order. After all, they were detained at Guantanamo — where they couldn’t hurt anyone — for a reason.

Nobody thought these men were reformed. Nobody thought this was a good idea.

“Of all the people at Guantanamo, none were as animalisticly evil as Mohammad Fazl,” commented veteran intelligence officer Jack Posobiec. “Fazl was one of Taliban’s top generals and is wanted for war crimes for personally burning and slaughtering entire villages of Shia Afghans. He murdered thousands. Barack Obama set him free.”

“Former President #BarackObama released Jihadists from GITMO claiming they were ‘reformed.’ We warned then, that they would join the Taliban. They did,” echoed Fox News national security and foreign policy expert Walid Phares. “The era of the catastrophic US national security policies should not come back. #VoteSmart on Tuesday.”

“Obama exchanged 5 Taliban terrorists held in GITMO for Army deserter Bowe Bergdahl,” added The Daily Caller’s Benny Johnson. “Here’s how this story ends: Bergdahl guilty of desertion and misbehavior before the enemy, dishonorably discharged. 5 terrorist went back to being terrorists.”

If there was ever a U.S. president entirely unconcerned with the safety of Americans and our allies throughout the world, it was Barack Hussein Obama.

Meanwhile, President Donald Trump is working overtime to protect our borders from the threat of an incoming migrant caravan carrying unvetted immigrants from terror hotbeds.

And which of these men has been mercilessly vilified by the liberal media and the Democrats? The latter. Spread this around if you are sick of the double standard.
