Senator Goes Too Far While Attacking Trump For Border Incident, Regrets His Words

Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) certainly loves illegal immigrants more than he loves President Donald Trump, and he isn’t shy about it. After Central American migrants attempted to enter the United States illegally, he used the incident to make a pretty bold claim about President Trump, suggesting that war crimes were committed. However, it wasn’t long until he was forced to regret ever opening his mouth.

The migrant caravan that originated in Guatemala and is currently parked in Tijuana, Mexico tried to force their way into the US on Sunday. Border Patrol Agents pushed back against the would-be gate-crashers with pepper spray and tear gas, which has liberals accusing President Trump of war crimes.

Sen. Brian Schatz (D-HI) said President Trump used “chemical weapons” on the migrants while actress Alyssa Milano cried that Trump gassed “women and children.” This hysterical liberal reaction was absent 5 years ago when Barack Obama did the exact same thing, but things are only crimes against humanity when a Republican does them, according to the left.

Fox News reports that hundreds of migrants stormed the border crossing at San Ysidro in California Sunday. Border Patrol agents deployed tear gas and used other non-lethal means like pepper spray rounds to repel the invaders. Some of the migrants were throwing rocks at Border Patrol agents as they tried to force their way illegally into the United States.

US Border Patrol showed incredible restraint in dealing with this violent bum rush, but Senator Brian Schatz thinks they are guilty of a Bashar al-Assad-level war crime. The Democrat tweeted and deleted, “Why the tear gas? Is this consistent with the Conventions on Chemical Weapons?”

The deleted tweet

Democrats aren’t the smartest people, but even they should know the difference between deadly nerve agents like Sarin and non-lethal tear gas. This is a sitting US Senator accusing President Trump of gassing innocent people like Syrian dictator Assad has done a number of times. With that tweet, Schatz suggested that Trump was guilty of a heinous war crime.

Schatz later explained that he deleted the tweet because he didn’t “know enough about what happened.” A Democrat was popping off on something he knows nothing about. Shocking. While Schatz didn’t know what happened, he did call the use of non-lethal means “excessive” because his ignorance doesn’t stop his opinions.

Lefty activist and mostly-unemployed actress Alyssa Milano also accused Trump of war crimes, though she used slightly more profane terms. Apologies for the language, but when liberals are mad (which is always), they only know three things: yelling “racist,” threatening violence, and dropping F-bombs.

Actually, the migrants rushing the border were mostly men, but whatever. Milano is too angry to consider facts or look at things objectively.

Speaking of facts and objectivity, back in 2013 another group of migrants tried to storm the border and were also repelled by Border Patrol agents using tear gas and pepper spray. The San Diego Union-Tribune reports:

A group of about 100 people trying to illegally cross the border Sunday near the San Ysidro port of entry threw rocks and bottles at U.S. Border Patrol agents, who responded by using pepper spray and other means to force the crowd back into Mexico, federal officials said.

A quick check of the records shows that in November of 2013 when this happened, Barack Obama was the president and in charge of border security. An extensive search of Twitter timelines shows that neither Schatz or Milano accused Obama of war crimes after this happened.

Brian Schatz was a Senator in 2013, but for some reason, he was not incensed by this Obama administration action. He didn’t think it violated the Chemical Weapons Convention nor did he feel it was excessive. Once again, Democrats show their selective outrage by slamming president Trump for doing the same exact thing Obama did.
