Whoopi Laughs: Trump Can’t Change Birthright Citizenship, Rush Makes Her Regret It

Whoopi Goldberg thought she would humiliate President Donald Trump on The View today. Goldberg laughed, asking the show’s resident lawyer, Sunny Hostin, if Trump can stop illegal alien babies born in America from becoming citizens. Hostin loudly exclaimed, “NOOO!” Enter Rush Limbaugh. The conservative talk show host set the record straight, making the co-hosts of The View regret that they ever laughed at President Trump. You’ll love this.

Whoopi Goldberg thought she had a hot topic that would put President Donald Trump to shame. Whoopi started laughing as she said, “[Trump’s] pledging to issue an executive order terminating part of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution which guarantees citizenship if you’re born in America. And, he says he has the power to do it.”

Whoopi then showed a clip of President Trump discussing the very real problem of illegal aliens coming to America just to give birth as he explained he does have the power to clarify the 14th Amendment. The president said, “We are the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby and essentially the baby is a citizen of the United States for the next 85 years with all the benefits, it’s ridiculous. And, it has to end.”

The leftist audience gasped. How dare the president suggest we do away with this “right to citizenship,” which is granted just because you are born here. So, quite mockingly, Whoopi said, “Sun, you’re a lawyer. Let me ask you. Does he legally have the power to erase the Constitution by executive order?”

Throwing her head back and laughing, the so-called smart attorney on The View exclaimed, “NOOO!” The useful idiots in the audience then broke out in wild applause as Hostin waved her hands in the air and said, “Thank-you!” Oh, it was all so funny to them as Whoopi started repeating, “No president, no president can do that.”

Hostin chimed in, “No president can do that. I mean the Supreme Court, the Supreme Court may be able to do that, but he cannot. And, I think what is so scary to me is that, umm, just the discussion of trying to repeal the 14th Amendment or change the 14th Amendment, really harkens back to some of the darkest chapters in American history, where like the Dredd Scott decision, where black people free or slaves could not, the Supreme Court found they could not be United States citizens.”

Does everything go back to this phantom race card? Didn’t this country have a Civil Rights movement in the 1960’s? Not only that, but the shrews of The View got lambasted by Rush Limbaugh.

Back in 2015, Rush Limbaugh tackled this very subject, and it seems like The View‘s resident lawyer Sunny Hostin missed that episode. She also missed the class discussing the 14th Amendment in whatever law school she went to.

Rush explained,[T]here’s nothing in the Constitution that says that if you are born to an illegal immigrant in America, that you are an American citizen. It’s not there. People think it is.”

He went on, “There’s not even a Supreme Court decision that says that if you are born to an illegal, you’re an automatic citizen. And, there shouldn’t be. I mean, that’s why the term ‘anchor baby’ has been created, ’cause we’re making it happen. … it happened to be an addendum to a Supreme Court decision, was added by Justice William Brennan. It’s not even in the Constitution.”

Limbaugh then added a brief history lesson, saying, “Here’s what the guy who wrote the 14th Amendment wrote a few years later. He said, ‘Every person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is, by virtue of natural law and national law, a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens…’ The 14th Amendment says the exact opposite. That’s what the guy who wrote the amendment says a few years later.”

Conservative journalist Jack Posobiec provided the transcripts of the debate over the 14th Amendment, which bolsters Rush’s point, tweeting, “For context here are the authors of the 14th Amendment on the subject of citizens of foreign nations.”

Obviously, if President Trump is talking about doing away with this myth called “birthright citizenship,” he has consulted with real attorneys and Constitutional scholars. Back in 1868, when the 14th Amendment was written, it was for one purpose. After the Civil War, the freed slaves needed to be granted legal citizenship.

This Amendment was written to make sure that happened. In 1868, they could not forsee leftists twisting it so illegal aliens could have “anchor babies,” and the president wants to clarify this through executive order. The joke is on Whoopi and her crew who don’t do any research before they open their big mouths, making utter fools of themselves once again.
